My husband and I took a trip for my 31st birthday to Magnolia Market at the Silos in Waco, Tx. If you haven’ t heard, it’s Waco’s coolest landmark, made famous by Fixer Upper’s Joanna and Chip Gaines. If you don’t know who they are, turn your tv to HGTV now and become addicted to their show. Don’t say I didn’t warn ya!
After reading lots of articles on Pinterest, we realized it was best to get to Magnolia Market early in the morning, especially on a Saturday. Waco is about a 2 1/2 hr drive from Houston, so we arrived at Magnolia Table for breakfast at 8 am and joined the forty-minute wait. The weather was a little chilly, so we grabbed some coffees from the patio area and visited the Market and Take Away gift shop, which is also on-site. They sell t-shirts, books, home decor and you can also grab a to-go sandwich. We still had about fifteen minutes left so we made our way back to the covered patio area where we sat and relaxed under the heaters until our table was ready.
We were seated in a cute booth by the window and of course, had to get fresh cups of coffee. I ordered the French Toast Breakfast which came with two slices of french toast with strawberry butter (never had strawberry butter before, but it was delish) eggs, peppered bacon, and tater tots. Mmmm! My husband ordered the Pancake Breakfast which included buttermilk pancakes, eggs, peppered bacon, and tater tots. We also got salted caramel chews with our check, and those were Y-U-M-M-Y!!
Now it was time to head over to a much-anticipated stop, The Magnolia Market & Silos. We arrived at about 10:00 am and did not have any trouble finding parking. We parked across the street from the Dr. Peper museum in a free parking lot and walked maybe 2 blocks to the Silos. Upon arriving you can see the long line of people waiting to order the infamous cupcakes and pastries from Joanna and Chip’s bakery, Silos Baking Co. It was too early for cupcakes for us, so we just continued down the sidewalk past all the people to the Magnolia Market warehouse. Once inside we saw the renowned silos, seed + supply store with a garden, a large courtyard with games, and yummy food trucks with picnic tables surrounding the property. It’s just incredibly beautiful inside the two-level Magnolia Market. Even the price tags are made out of leather. There is so much to look at and take in, so enjoy your time and purchase all the unique things!!
After walking around the warehouse we were starving and it was so convenient to go outside and have our pick of yummy food trucks. We ate at the Little Brisket and got the Brisket Melts. They were AMAZING!! We also had to try the Sweet Alabama Tea, which is served in 24oz mason jars, that we took home as souvenirs. There are plenty of spots for photo opportunities, but here are the most iconic spots you don’t want to miss.
- In front of the Magnolia Market Entrance.
- In front of the Silos underneath C + J heart.
- In front of Silos underneath Magnolia metal sign.
- In front of the green Magnolia Jeep.
- Inside Magnolia warehouse in front of “where you are today matters for who you’ll be tomorrow”.
- Inside Magnolia warehouse under its Demo Day sign.
- Underneath the Miles to Magnolia sign.
- In front of the white brick wall for the Silos bakery that says Welcome to Magnolia Silos.
Special thanks to my sweet hubby for capturing every photo I wanted, he was the real MVP. Before we left we had to grab dessert from the Silos Baking Co., and of course, there was still a line wrapped around the building, but we didn’t let that deter us. Fortunately, the line does go pretty fast and we were handed a small menu and pencil to select which cupcakes we wanted. We chose The Classic, Nuts and Bolts, Strawberries ‘N Cream and Lemon Lavender and they were all very tasty and worth the wait!
We ended up staying the night in Waco and booked the cutest Airbnb called Dub’s Barn Cabin. It was about a 15 Min drive from Magnolia Market and really easy to get to. I would definitely stay here again!
Sunday morning we had BIG plans to try a local breakfast place, but soon realized most breakfast/brunch places and other businesses are closed on Sundays. If there is a specific place you want to try, I recommend going any day other than Sunday. Luckily the infamous Cracker Barrel was open so we had a delicious breakfast there before our drive home.
If it happens to be too far of a drive you can always fly into Dallas, San Antonio, or Houston international airports. Dallas (DFW) is the closest choice.
- Dallas 1hr and 40 mins
- San Antonio 2hrs and 40 mins
- Houston 2hrs and 50 mins
