A staycation is always good for the soul! Courtland and I could not wait to visit the beautiful Omni Barton Creek Resort and Spa located in the Texas Hill Country. If you’ve never heard of Texas Hill Country, it is well known for its rolling hills, fine wine, and authentic cuisine. A perfect getaway if you ask me! Whether you are looking for a luxurious romantic escape, a quick family trip, or a golf getaway with your buddies, the Omni Barton Creek Resort & Spa is the place for you!
Driving to the resort, you are met with the most awesome views. As we pulled up to the hotel’s front entrance, we were greeted with the warmest smiles and sincere hospitality. The staff immediately started to unload our car while we checked in with the front desk, which made us feel at ease. After check-in, we were escorted to our suite, and the gentleman unloaded our bags and explained our energy-efficient room. There are two options for parking. You can use either valet (which we did), or you can use self-park in a covered garage which is very easy to access from the hotel.
We stayed in the Hill Country Studio Suite, and the first thing we noticed was the large windows and panoramic view. We could see one of the golf courses and the rolling hills in the backdrop. Waking up to that view never got old!
We immediately changed and headed down to Blind Salamander Kitchen and Bar for a yummy seafood (my fave) dinner! You have to make reservations for dinner, and I recommend making them at least a week in advance, especially if you plan on dining at the resort during the weekend. The food at the Blind Salamander was amazing, and the cocktail menu featured flavors from comforting to adventurous. I had the spinach salad, ahi tartare with cauliflower fried rice, and CL had the spinach salad and the texas quail. The creme brulee was a no-brainer for dessert and it was delicious!
After dinner, we walked around the resort, just taking in the beautiful sunset. There are lawn chairs and fire pits where you can sit, relax, and even roast smores, or you can play cornhole with family and friends.
Saturday morning, we woke up early and headed down to Texas Spice for the breakfast buffet. There was a short wait, but it went pretty fast. After breakfast, we decided to take a walk on the trail that goes around the golf course. It was such a gorgeous day, and while taking pictures, two deer ran across the course behind us. We were able to capture a few pics of them, and it was such a cool sight to see.
Early afternoon I had a massage and facial booked at the Mokara Spa for their Spacation package. It included a 50-minute Barton Creek Signature Facial and a 50-minute Barton Springs Massage. My therapists were amazing and I left feeling relaxed and rejuvenated. When you book any spa treatment you have access to lounge rooms, hot tubs, saunas, steam rooms, and the adult-only rooftop pool where they serve food and beverages. The Mokara Spa is hands down worth a visit during your stay. CL decided to utilize the fitness center while I was being pampered, and he said it was definitely state-of-the-art with all the equipment he could have imagined.
The Omni Barton Creek Resort is known for housing the number one golf course in the state of Texas, and CL & I were thrilled to enjoy a tee time on Fazio Canyons Golf course. The award-winning course is lined with numerous scenic holes and features spectacular views. It was fun but yet very challenging, especially for a novice golfer like myself. Suppose you get hungry while on the course, no worries because there is staff riding around with snacks and beverages. There is also a clubhouse that sits at the edge of the driving range with beautiful views from the wraparound porch with beer on tap and a seasonal menu.
Saturday night we had dinner reservations at our favorite steakhouse Bob’s Steak and Chop House. CL and I ate at the Nashville location for our anniversary a few years ago and we thoroughly enjoyed dining there again. The steak was just as delicious as we remembered and the onion rings were tasty too! All entrees are served with Bob’s signature glazed carrot and potatoes. The service was exceptional!

Sunday morning, we had a couples photoshoot and decided to grab coffee and breakfast burritos from Velvet Joes Coffee House. It was the perfect on-the-go meal.
